Layout Design
Layout design provides the basic layout of each floor of the house, showcasing exactly the location of walls, rooms, baths, kitchen, stairs, doors, windows and interior spaces with closets and other furniture elements. Layout design provides complete view of a building and demonstrates the location of building with all building elements where they will be placed.
Complied Working Drawing
Complied Drawings indicate how the finished home will be in compliance with the building codes. They consist of the necessary floor plans, four elevations and a section or two. This is the basic or permit set of construction drawings good to get a home's construction started, it won't have all of the information. For eg: Finishes, built-ins, cabinetry, special details, appliances, etc. are the things that will have to be decided but won't show up in the complied working drawings.
Floor Plan: A Floor Plan shows sizes & location of walls & columns, rooms, doors & windows. They are marked with a grid system of horizontal lines labeled with numbers & vertical lines with letters. These lines are known as column lines & represent the structural columns in the building.
Exterior Elevations: These are the sides of the building viewed looking straight at them. Exterior elevations give a good idea of how the house will look on each side, but 3D perspective view provides a much more realistic image.
Sections: These drawings show what you will see if you cut a slice through the building, revealing the inside of walls, floors and foundations elements. Most common are elevation sections cut vertically through staircase & washrooms showing floor heights & floor drops.
Details: These are drawings of specific elements where the designer wants to provide more detailed information than can be seen in the larger drawings of the entire house. Details are often sectioned drawings of the foundation, exterior walls, stairs or other construction elements.
Structural Design
Structural drawings provide information about structure, strength of different structural elements, structural materials, grade, size and placement of reinforcement, etc. Structural drawings are prepared by registered professional structural engineers, and informed by architectural drawings. They are primarily concerned with the load-carrying members of a structure. They do not address architectural details like surface finishes, partition walls, or mechanical systems.
Electrical Design
Electrical drawings provide the details and location of electrical wiring, fixtures, sub-station etc. The set of drawings includes a plot plan showing interior and exterior wiring of the house. Plan of individual floors showing electrical systems on each floor along with a detailed wiring diagram and symbols showing the placement of electrical fittings and switch board on every floor.
Plumbing Design
A Plumbing Drawing shows the water piping system of a house. A well designed plumbing systems ensures cost-effectiveness in a long run. Plumbing drawings give the placement of sanitary ware & fixture, piping for water supply system, waste water drainage and the process to connect every fixture etc. These sets of drawings show the detail demarcation of waste and vent pipes, rainwater drainage and sewer system.
